Prediction game terms explained

A quick reference for the terms used across Season Call and prediction games generally. No jargon, just what each term actually means.

Pre Season prediction

Your prediction of the final league table, made before a ball is kicked. Carries the most weight of the two table predictions because it's made with the least information.

Mid Season prediction

A second, independent table prediction made at the halfway point of the season. Weighted lower than Pre Season, but scored entirely on its own.

Weekly prediction

A prediction made for a single week's fixtures, separate from the season-long table prediction. Locks at the first kick-off of that week.

1-X-2

A way of predicting a match outcome without predicting the exact score: 1 means home win, X means draw, 2 means away win.

Exact score prediction

Predicting the precise final score of a match (for example 2-1), rather than just the outcome.

Private league

A closed group with its own leaderboard, joined by invite code or link.

Leaderboard (season / week / total)

Season points come from table predictions, week points from week predictions, and total combines both.

Since you joined

A leaderboard variant that only counts points from the day a member joined a league.

No odds, no stakes

No money changes hands anywhere in the game, and scoring is based purely on prediction accuracy, not betting odds.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a Pre Season and a Mid Season prediction?

Pre Season is made before the season starts and weighs the most; Mid Season is a second, independent read made at the halfway point.

Why do some competitions use 1-X-2 and others use exact scores?

It depends on schedule density: the tighter and denser the fixture list, the more outcome-based scoring is the fairer format.

What does "no odds, no stakes" actually mean?

No money is ever involved - points reflect accuracy only.
